Do you use your car all year? Would you like to have a break without it? Well why not visit Exmoor and enjoy some time car free.

There are two ways of doing this. Either leave you car at home or come by car and spend your time on the various bus services or on the West Somerset Railway.

Leaving your car at home.
Exmoor is accessible from all parts of the world.

Getting here from abroad
You can travel from Europe via London Victoria on Eurolines from as far away as Oslo, Moscow, Naples, North Africa and many parts of France, Germany, Spain and more.

By train via Eurostar and Waterloo with connections in Brussels, Paris and Lille, and many other locations.

By air to Heathrow and then there are up to 7 daily coach services to Taunton, 4 to Tiverton and Barnstaple, 2 to Ilfracombe. You can also fly into Bristol, Exeter and Cardiff. There are coach airport transfer services from Luton, Gatwick and Stanstead.

Getting here from the UK
By coach you can get through coach or rail tickets from all parts of the mainland UK. National Express coaches come from all parts of the UK.

Local bus routes
There are buses from Taunton to Minehead daily from Taunton Bus Station and the interchange point at Taunton Rail Station. Most other services run Monday to Saturday but some include Sunday and Bank Holidays in the main season.

There is the Exmoor Coastlink 300 service which links Minehead to Barnstaple via Ilfracombe 3 times a day with through links on the first and last services from and back to Taunton.

There are good connections from Barnstaple to Lynton and Lynmouth and Tiverton to Minehead via Dulverton and Wheddon Cross.

Coming by car and then use the bus
It is fair to say that not all locations on Exmoor have public transport, but by basing yourself in Minehead, Taunton, Tiverton, Barnstaple or Ilfracombe you are able to get to use various local services to many locations around Exmoor.

The Exmoor Open Top service is worth a trip. You can step off and rejoin at any point. You can also purchase a First South West Day ticket to travel on all First services for that day.
