The Exmoor Tourist Association (ETA), was set up in 1982 to help maximise the benefits of sustainable tourism for its members and to bring members' businesses, and Exmoor, to the attention of people considering visiting Exmoor for holidays and short breaks. Its activities aim to benefit its members, local Exmoor communities and the wellbeing of the Greater Exmoor region (Exmoor and its surrounding areas), by promoting the benefits of Exmoor to potential visitors. It works closely with all appropriate authorities, especially the Exmoor National Park Authority.

Membership is open to any business on Exmoor, and in its surrounding areas, that includes visitors within the client list for its service or products.

For just an £18 current annual membership fee, ETA members benefit from:

• A quarterly newsletter on topical Exmoor tourism subjects
• An ETA discount card giving discounts from various local businesses
• The right to display an ETA logo as a sign of quality and of commitment to the area
• Three free helplines for members on legal, accountancy and insurance matters.
• The use of its website to promote their business, (at an extra fee, currently two categories of £50 and £85, depending upon the amount of text and pictorial promotion required, with each of these advertising options offering a link to the advertiser's own website).

The ETA is run by a committee of volunteers, with the maintenance and marketing of its website managed by a full website subcommittee.
